"Shichifuku-jin"
The Seven Deities of Good Fortune,include six gods and a godess,and they come from various sources such as Shintoism, Buddhism,Taoism,Brahminism,etc.
"The name of each deity from left to right in the picture is as follows",
(1)Hotei,the god of prosperity and happiness,is usually depicted laughing and with a huge belly,carrying a big bag filled with
riches.
(2)Jurojin,the god of prosperity,happiness and longevity,is usually depicted with a long white beard and carrying a staff with
a scroll containing the secret of longevity and is often accompanied by a "shika"(stag) as his messenger.
(3)Daikoku,the god of prosperity,harvests and good fortune,is usually depicted seated on bales of rice,with a hood and a big
bag filled with riches on his left shoulder and a "uchide no kozuchi"(lucky mallet) in his right hand.
(4)Ebisu,the god of prosperity,is usually depicted carrying a big red "tai"(sea bream) under his left arm and a fishing rod
in his right hand.
(5)Benzaiten or Benten,the god of literature,arts and sciences ,is usually depicted playing a biwa(an ancient Japanese lute).
(6)Fukurokuju,the god of prosperity,happiness and longevity,is usually depicted with long and bald head and long white beard,
sometimes carrying a staff and a scroll containing the world's wisdom.
(7)Bishamonten,the god of prosperity,is usually depicted wearing a full suit of armor and carrying a small spear and
pagoda(a symbol of Buddhism).
