Kigan-ema
An "Ema" is a small wooden votive tablet ,usually with a picture of a horse on the front, and a plea or prayer written on the back .The "Ema" is hung up at a shrine or temple as a substitute for donating a real horse ,and in the belief that the prayer will be answered .Most of the prayers are for passing an exam, for a safe childbirth, or for health and prosperity.
