Karo-Yashiki (Residence of Saigo Tanomo'family)
Karo-Yashiki, meaning "Samurai Manor",was the residence of the influential Saigo family.
Leaders of the Saigo family had served the Aizu-Matsudaira Clan as chief retainer since this clan's rise to power in the middle of
the 17th century.The present building is based on plans from the end of the 18th century.
There are 38 rooms in this impressive chief retainer's manor, in which also lived dozens of soldiers and servants.
